A stunning 'Zap Pot' vessel from Anatolia, Turkey. The tradition of making zap pots started in Central Asia between nomad people during the invasion of the Byzantine Empire. These individuals moved around during the year to pasture their animals. Because these nomads were not settled in one place, this meant they left their pots behind when they were forced to migrate to different locations. Because this region is so small, these pots are very rare compared to the more common Turkish vessels.
